Bursa Tarihi Kestel Kalesi Sosyo-Kültürel Tesis ve Açık Alan Tasarımı

Özet: Kentlerin kimliğinin oluşmasında doğal, yapılı ve sosyal çevreye ait bileşenler önemli rol oynamaktadır. Özellikle tarihi yapılar çoğu zaman içinde bulunduğu kentin simgesi haline gelerek, onun kimliğinin bir parçası olmaktadır. Bu noktada tarihi yapıların çevresiyle bütünleştirilmesi, kentlilerin ve ziyaretçilerin güncel ihtiyaçları doğrultusunda korunması ve yeniden işlevlendirilmesi önemli bir konu olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Kökleri Roma İmparatorluğu’na dayanan Bursa’nın Kestel ilçesi de doğal güzellikleri yanında, kalesiyle de tanınan bir yerleşimdir. 2000’li yıllarda korunması gerekli bir kültür varlığı olarak tescillenen Kestel Kalesi restore edilerek, kale içinde bir kafeterya ve çocuk oyun alanı inşa edilmiş, koruma alanında bir peyzaj düzenlemesi yapılmıştır. Ancak yüksek eğimli topoğrafyaya bağlı erişim sorunları olan, kentlilere yeterli işlev olanakları sunmayan kale ve çevresi zamanla kullanılmayan atıl bir alan haline gelmiştir. Bu kapsamda Kestel’deki kentsel yaşam kalitesini yükselterek, ilçenin tanınırlığını arttıracak projeler geliştirmeyi hedefleyen Kestel Belediyesi’nin talebiyle Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi Mimarlık Fakültesi öğretim elemanları tarafından Bursa Kestel ilçesi tarihi kale içi kültür ve sosyal tesisi ile kale çevresi açık alan tasarımı mimari avan ve uygulama projeleri hazırlanmıştır. Bu makalede Kale ve çevresine ait projenin tasarım ve uygulama sürecinin anlatılması amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada yöntem olarak literatür araştırması yanında farklı ölçeklerde fiziksel ve sosyal analizler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, bu projenin daha önce aynı ekip tarafından tasarlanan ve uygulanan Kestel Kent Meydanı projesiyle birlikte, Kestel Kalesi ve çevresinde hem kentliler, hem de ziyaretçiler için önemli bir çekim noktası oluşturacağı düşünülmektedir.

Bursa Kestel Historical Castle Cultural and Social Center and Open Space Design
Abstract: Components of the natural, built and social environment play an important role in the formation of the identity of cities. Especially historical buildings often become the symbols of the city and become a part of its identity. At this point, integrating historical buildings with their environment, protecting and retrofitting them in line with the current needs of citizens and visitors emerge as an important issue. The Kestel district of Bursa, which was founded during the Roman Empire, is a settlement known with its castle as well as its natural beauties. Kestel Castle, which was registered as a cultural asset to be protected in the 2000’s, was restored and a landscape project was implemented around the castle. However, the castle and its surroundings, which do not offer sufficient functional opportunities to the citizens except for the cafeteria and children’s playground in the castle and have accessibility problems due to the steeply sloping topography, have become neglected and idle over time. Upon the request of the Kestel Municipality, which aims to develop projects that will increase the quality of urban life in Kestel district and to promote Kestel in and outside of Bursa, Bursa Uludağ University Faculty of Architecture members prepared the project of Kestel historical castle cultural and social center and open space design architectural concept and implementation projects. In this article, it is aimed to explain the design and implementation process of the project of castle and its surroundings. As a method in the study, besides literature research, physical and social analyzes at different scales were carried out. As a result, it is thought that Kestel Castle and its surroundings, together with the Kestel City Square, which was previously designed by the same team and constructed in 2023, will be an important activity space and attraction point for both the citizens and the visitors in near future.
